Harry V. Wiant Jr. (1932-2020), born in Burnsville, earned forestry degrees from WVU, University of Georgia, and Yale. He retired as forestry professor at WVU in 1996 and authored many professional publications. He is the only West Virginian to have served as president of the Society of American Foresters.
