This former WNBA point guard and team owner from St. Albans won three consecutive state basketball titles at South Charleston High School. After winning national championships at the University of Connecticut and in the WNBA, Montgomery became a sports commentator, businesswoman, and philanthropist.

In 2021, she joined the ownership group of the Atlanta Dream, becoming the first former WNBA player to own a stake in a league franchise. She also became the first woman to own a team in the Fan Controlled Football league through her ownership of the Atlanta FCF Beasts.

Additionally, Montgomery has used her platform to promote social activism and equality. She founded the Renee Montgomery Foundation in 2019 to support equality in women’s sports and has advocated for social justice and early childhood education through her podcast Montgomery and Co. Her activism and career as an athlete, entrepreneur, and team owner were featured in the 2024 documentary A Radical Act: Renee Montgomery.
