Cumberland Municipal Airport was used for a 1.6-mile airport course run in Wiley Ford, West Virginia (just south of Cumberland, Maryland) in the 1950s and 1960s.
Wiley Ford Racing: Between 1953 and 1971, the airport in Wiley Ford was host to national sports car races attended by top racers Roger Penske, Bob Holbert, Don Yenko, Carroll Shelby, Briggs Cunningham, Donna Mae Mims, Mark Donohue, Dick Thompson, and others. Attendance at thie 1.6 mile road course estimated as high as 72,000. Site of first race win in 1967 for the new Chevrolet Z28 Camaro.
