This Loudendale (Kanawha County) native was best known for playing Berta, the housekeeper, on the TV show Two and a Half Men for all 12 seasons. She was nominated twice for Emmy Awards for this role.

She first studied law but switched to history education before moving to New York to act. Ferrell starred in many stage plays and won several theater awards. She also appeared in movies such as Network, Mystic Pizza, Edward Scissorhands, and Erin Brockovich.

Ferrell acted in many TV shows, including Maude, L.A. Law (which earned her another Emmy nomination), and Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
