The Sinks of Gandy is a natural wonder in eastern Randolph County where all of Gandy Creek flows completely underground. It disappears beneath the earth at a blind valley (a valley with no visible outlet) south of Yokum Knob. The water flows northeast through a large cave for about three-quarters of a mile before emerging from the north side
Because the cave takes the entire flow of the creek, it can flood suddenly and dangerously after heavy rain. A story from 1941 recounts how four cavers were once trapped inside for five hours.
The Sinks of Gandy is off limits to the public because both entrances are on private land.
