Molly O'Day, born Lois LaVerne Williamson in Kentucky, started performing with her brothers. She moved to West Virginia and met Leonard "Lynn" Davis, who she married in 1941. She took the stage name Molly O’Day and became one of the first solo female country singers.

In 1946, she signed with Columbia Records and recorded songs by Hank Williams and others. In 1950, O'Day and Davis left show business to focus on their faith, singing only in churches while Lynn became a minister. They later hosted a gospel radio show in Huntington.

Molly O'Day was inducted into the West Virginia Music Hall of Fame in 2007.
