This Glen Dale (Marshall County) native started playing guitar as a child and by age 14 was on the Jamboree USA radio show in Wheeling. He moved to Nashville in the 1990s and released his first album in 1999, with hits like "He Didn't Have to Be."
Paisley has won many awards, including three Grammys, and joined the Grand Ole Opry in 2001. Known for mixing traditional and modern country music, he often addresses serious topics in his songs. He’s also helped his home state, performing at WVU games and supporting flood victims.
He remains active in music and charity, including efforts to help Ukraine.
