Marshall "Little Sleepy" Glenn was a star athlete, coach, and doctor from Elkins. He played football and basketball at WVU, where he was team captain in both sports. Glenn later coached basketball (1934-38) and football (1937-40) at WVU, even while studying medicine in the summers. His football team won the 1938 Sun Bowl.
Glenn served as a Navy doctor in World War II and later worked as a physician in Charles Town. He died in a car accident in 1983 and was added to the WVU Sports Hall of Fame in 1992. His nickname came from his older brother, who was also called “Sleepy.”
