This New Jersey native moved to West Virginia in 1977. After serving in the Navy, he studied art and became known for his bold colors, strong lines, and a unique style he called "new world primitivism." His work included paintings, prints, murals, and sculptures, and has been shown in New York, Miami, and other major cities. Hamilton taught art to all ages and inspired many young artists. In 2021, a street in Charleston that features one of his murals was named after him.
