This Cabell County native served in the 1st West Virginia Cavalry and captured the state flag of the 14th Virginia Cavalry (CSA) at Ninevah, Virginia, on 12 November 1864.
He was born in Harveytown in 1844. After the war, he was a farmer in the Barboursville Ridge Road of Cabell County, where he died, in 1922.
