Entering the service at Williamson (Mingo County), this corporal with the 27th U.S. Infantry swam to obtain a canoe under heavy fire at San Mateo in the Philippines, on 19 December 1899.
He is the brother of Medal of Honor recipient Julien E. Gaujot. Antoine was born in 1878 in Eagle Harbor Township, Michigan, and moved in 1894 to what would become Mingo County a year later. His father was a coal engineer. Antoine died in 1936 in Williamson.
