This Navy ensign from Martinsburg saved the life of a wounded soldier during the Battle of Vera Cruz, Mexico, on 22 April 1914.
He also served in World Wars I and II. He was born in 1891 in Martinsburg and died in 1975 in Washington, D.C. He is buried in Arlington National Cemetery.
