This captain with the 1st West Virginia Cavalry captured a Confederate flag at Sailors Creek, Virginia, on 6 April 1865.
He was born and died in Washington, Pennsylvania (1831-1908). Before and after the war, he worked as a grocer and then became a farmer. He later clerked for the "A. B. Caldwell store."
