This Lewis County native, while serving in the 47th Ohio Infantry, stormed a Confederate stronghold at Vicksburg, Mississippi, on 22 May 1863.
He was born in Weston, where he also enlisted, about 1843. He was wounded in action at Atlanta, Georgia, 22 July 1864.
Surviving his wounds, he moved to the Midwest after the war, and died in Oklahoma in 1912.
