Entering the service at Wirt Courthouse (Elizabeth), this sergeant with the 1st West Virginia Cavalry, captured a Confederate flag at Chancellorsville, Virginia, on 5 March 1865.
He was born in Monroe County, Ohio. After the war, he lived in Williamstown (Ohio County). He died in 1914 in Parkersburg and is buried in Parkersburg Memorial Gardens.
